Reagans 1st Day of School

We, and I mean that literally, both Reagan and I, were so excited for her to start school. Reagan has a ton of energy and her imagination is off the charts. She is constantly pretending and playing and growing. I was sure that she was ready for school a year ago, but the school didn't agree. But the time finally came when they said she could come and come she did. Well, run is a better word.

Let me explain to you just how excited Reagan was for school. Soon after I signed Reagan up for preschool we drove by and I pointed it out for Reagan so she could see where she would be going. For the next 6 months, every time we drove by Reagan would point at her school and remind me "That's my school! I'm going to go there soon, huh mom?!?" I would assure her she was.

Then came back to school day. The parents were invited to come and meet the teacher, see where the kids were going to be spending their time, get information about what the trimester would hold, and the kids could come and get to know the teachers and other kids. As we pulled up to the school for this fun day Reagan was a bit nervous and kept asking if I was going to leave her. I told her I was going to stay this first time but that next time I wasn't going to stay. That seemed to make her nervous, but she accepted it. When we got into the car after our time at the school I asked Reagan if she had fun, and she said "Yeah, and your not going to come with me next time, are you?" I told her no, and that she was going to stay by herself next time. She said "Good, I don't want you to come next time." Classic. For the remainder of the day she told everyone that she got to go to school and that next time I wasn't going to go with her. So glad to be missed!

With all the hustle and bustle of getting ready for school of course I forgot my camera, but I did remember to bring it when I picked her up. So instead of the classic before school picture, we got the new "after the first day" picture.

As I walked up to the school this is what I found...

Most of the kids were ready to go, but Reagan wasn't done. It took a bit of coaxing to get her to get her backpack and leave.

When she did finally come, she was all smiles and jabbered my ear off about all her new friends at school. It has been so fun to watch her learn and grow into this big person. I can't believe she is in school! It feels like a long time coming, but on the other hand I am sad to see that my little girl has grown so big and is going to school! Wow!

That's so fun! My favorite thing about Reagan is that she just tells it like it is. I'm sure she misses you.
