Reagan's Broken Arm

On March 7th Reagan had a first, she fell off the monkey bars at school and broke her arm! I know you're thinking "that sucks!" But you don't know Reagan. Who knew that this would be the greatest thing to happen to her? Yes, it was painful for some time after it happened. but what it gained her in attention was well worth it.

That morning I got a call from Butler's office informing me that Reagan was there and that she had taken a good fall off the monkey bars. They said she seemed OK but wanted to come home. I figured the boys get a lot of attention for their injuries so we could nurse this for a little bit. I got her home and had her all set up on the couch. I had her put both of her arms out for me to see and one was quite visibly larger than the other. That got me worried. Her wrists are so little but her left one was huge. I realized she probably needed to be seen, so I made arrangements for the other kids and took her to the instacare. Reagan was so brave. When the doctor came in to look at her arm she sat so tall and answered all of her questions. Then, as soon as the doctor left, she would crumble and cry. It took all she had to be strong in front of the doctor and nurse. It was just the same when they did the x-rays. She acted like it was no big deal but as soon as we got back to our room she lost it telling me that they turned her arm and it hurt so bad.

both bones in her wrist had a compound fracture one was very small and you couldn't really see it on the x-ray. The other was about half way through the bone. She wore her cast for 3 weeks and when they took it off the bruise on her wrist was pretty big and very blue.

So not everything was bad about breaking her arm. She got to choose what color she wanted it to be. It was waterproof so we went swimming with it. Where ever we went people would stop and ask her what happened and she would quickly ask if they wanted to sign it. So the attention this cast got her was exponential. As rough as it was, I know she is so glad she was able to have this experience. She told me that she is going to be so sad when she has to throw it away. (I won't be)

2012 Family Pictures

My good friend Emily is a photographer and like me we both drag our feet when it comes to getting our own families pictures taken. I can only speak for myself here, but there is a reason I am behind the camera. I have no idea why Em doesn't jump at the chance. She is beautiful! Anyway, we got to talking and she had the brilliant idea of going away for a weekend and swapping picture taking.

I think the weekend part was what convinced me. I mean, hello? I just had a baby 3 months ago. In what world would I want to take a picture of myself in that state? Well, I caved and decided it was more important to have pictures of my family no matter what I looked like.

When all is said and done I am so glad we did it. The weekend was a hit, I love spending time with Emily's sweet family, and now I have pictures of my cute family at this crazy stage in our lives. Somehow Emily got everyone smiling and looking good. Thank you Em! You're the best!

Check out Emily's photo blog here or go to emilylovelandphotography.blogspot.com ... gorgeous!

Easter Outfits

Yep, this is how far behind I am on actual blogging. Crazy, I know. I have had these edited forever and just haven't taken the time to post them. I thought about post dating them so they would actually fall into the timeline of my blog but then no one would see them, and it wouldn't be an honest account of my blogging! Ha! So, here are my cute littlies in their easter outfits...

Love that I caught this kid mid-sneeze. He has the cutest sneeze face!

Oh! Here he goes again!

Crew is at a point where he hates having his picture taken. Can you tell? He was freaking out but somehow Steve got him to sit down. No smile, but he is sitting. We take what we can get around here.

Ahhh! Freedom! This is Crew at his happiest.

All we need for a few smiles is dad. Where have you been? This is way more fun than sitting in the flowers posing for mom!

First day of School 2011

Reagan loves school. She loves everything about it, especially all the friends she has there and her wonderful teachers. This year for Preschool I had a couple of things that were very important on my list of requirements as I decided where we were going to go.

#1 - since Crew was also going to be in preschool I wanted somewhere that had 2 separate classes for each of them at the same time. (This proved to be a very hard thing to find. Either they had to go to the same class or one of them would go MWF and the other T/TH. So they would never be gone at the same time. This seemed very stupid to me. If they are going to school I wanted it to be at the same time.

#2 - since we have 2 preschoolers that means we are paying double for preschool. As I looked around I found that this could really send us to the poor house. So I needed to find somewhere that wasn't going to cost more than our house. This was also hard because if I wanted to get my #1 request I was apparently going to have to pay big bucks for it. I really was dragging my feet about this whole thing.
Luckily I was soon introduced to Granite School District's Preschool Program. I wasn't sure if we would be allowed seeing that we don't live in the district, but apparently that is not a requirement for Preschool. Lucky us. Also, since they are a public school entity their prices were very hard to beat! I am sending both my children to preschool for a price that is fantastic and let me tell you just what I'm getting...
Reagan's class is M/T/W/Th from about 9:00 to 12:00. (Most preschools are only 2 or 2 1/2 hours long)
She is in an elementary school with two teachers, a speech therapist, a behavioral therapist, and a school nurse specifically for the preschoolers, and a parent helper (sometimes 2) every day.
Crew gets to go on T/Th for the same time frame with the same teachers, therapists, nurse, and parent helpers.
It has been a dream and I am so happy that we found this solution. Reagan loves it and is learning so much. She is right on track for Kindergarten and I couldn't be more happy about it.
Here is Reagan on her first day of school...

She is a total poser. I love it!

Not sure about this one...

First day in front of her new school...

First day with her new teachers, Miss Angie on the left and Miss Samar on the right. Thank you for all you do!

Reagan's Preschool Graduation

I think it's so funny that these little kids have a graduation for preschool, but on the other hand I loved seeing Reagan all dressed up and excited for the big celebration. It was fun to see what they had learned and meet her friends that I have been hearing about. So, I guess it's ok.

Reagan went to preschool this past year at Brighton High School. I really was happy with our experience. It was close, she loved all the people involved, couldn't beat the price and her bag was full of goodies every day when I picked her up. She learned a ton and had even more fun!

For her graduation they hosted the parents and families in the atrium and served cake. So funny! Reagan loved every minute of it. She still talks about how she "celebrated from school" so she is done now. Here are some pictures from the big day...
