Happy Birthday to ME!!!

Those of you who know me know that I love my birthday... I don't know what it is but birthday's are the best! Maybe it is the changing season that makes me excited. Or maybe it's October and that means Halloween. Dressing up, being with family, making sugar cookies, The Nightmare Before Christmas, I don't know... It is probably all of those things together. So I decided I would send a shout out to myself and say "Happy Birthday to me!" This is the only picture I have of myself, since I am usually the one taking the pictures. Enjoy!

Surprise Sarah!

On Saturday Steve made sure that I leave that day wide open because he had something planned for my birthday. If some of you don't know this, I LOVE my birthday and Steve never lets me down when it comes to celebrating it! I didn't know what he had planned but I was excited that we were doing something.

We dropped the kids off at my parents house at about noon and went to the mall. Steve got me a pair of jeans, something that I was in dior need of, and our next stop was Jordan Commons for a movie. These are two things that I love and never get to do... shopping and movies... Such is the life of a young family. We saw Eagle Eye, which I thought was very good. I really like Shia LaBouf (or whatever his name is). After the movie we were driving around looking for somewhere to eat and Steve wanted to go to Cafe Rio, which I do really like but I didn't want to eat so fast. I wanted to go somewhere we could sit down and take some time. So we went to Olive Garden. It was really yummy!

Dinner ended and Steve kept saying we should probably get back to my parent's house to get the kids and I REALLY wasn't ready to end our fun day. I kept thinking of little errands that we needed to do that we never really have time to do. We did a little more shopping and picked up Steve's contacts that were supposed to come in weeks ago. I tried to convince him we should grab a movie at Redbox to watch in my parent's theater, but he ignored me and drove straight there.

To my surprise as we walked down into the basement I heard a loud "SURPRISE!" from the family room. Steve had organized a surprise party for me with some family and friends! It was great and I didn't have a clue! He is so good to me and so is everyone who came to the party! Thanks to everyone who helped Steve out and came to wish me a happy one... I sure had a great day and can chalk #27 up as another great birthday! (Even though it isn't actually until tomorrow)

Thanks, Baba, for making me feel so special and always doing so much more than I deserve! I love you so much!

Quickie...

Ok, so I found this cute blog with an amazingly talented woman at its keyboard. You have to check it out! She has sewn this amazing Marie Antoinette style dress for a little girl and I am in complete awe... how do people do these kind of things? See for yourself...

New Cabinets... well sort of

A while ago Steve and I decided that we were going to refinish the basement this past summer. We were pretty much geared up and ready to go but we hit a bit of snag in our plans and the project got put on hold. I was getting very antsy to get something done in our house so about 2 months ago I took down about 5 of our cabinet door and started sanding them while Steve was at work.

Although we had talked about things we might do to our kitchen, it was very far down on our list of things we want to do to the house. But I am proving to be quite an impatient person and wanted to see something done and this was something I could do myself, so I went for it. I promised Steve that this would be my project and he wouldn't have to worry about a thing. Of course that turned out to be totally false because they never would have gotten done without him!

I thought I would share with you some photos of the process and the after shot. I LOVE THEM!!! They are such an improvement over the old ones! I think I even gave Steve the bug so we can do our kitchen floors next! (I don't know if you can see them in the picture, but we have a very outdated linolium). Yeah for home improvement!
I do sometimes dream of having a brand new home with everything just the way I want it. Everything top of the line and each morning when I wake up it looks like we just moved in... but everytime we finish a project I am glad we don't have it all. At least not yet. I love learning how to do things, working to make something better, and seeing the end result. It feels great. Plus, I would get bored without these great projects, right? So, what can I start next???

Reagan's Birthday Party

On Sunday we had our family over for cupcakes and ice cream to celebrate Reagan's birthday. It was so much fun and Reagan was a total riot! Every gift she opened received an "Oh, my!", "Oh, boy!", or "Oooooh!" It was awesome! Thanks to all of our family for joining in on the fun, it was great to have you over!

This is Reagan with her cupcake cake...I made a little cupcake cake of my own. If you can't tell, it is a flower! Here is Reagan with her presents. Totally classic! She loved everything she got! She kept telling everyone it was her birthday. If only it could be her birthday every day!One of her gifts was from her cousin, Summer. She gave her about 5 princess dresses. They were a little big so my mom had taken them and sewn them to fit Reagan. She was really in Heaven. She had to put one on the minute she opened them. I am glad and sad to say that she has had a dress on every moment, except when I make her take them off for naps, since she opened them on Sunday. What a gal. I think we're in trouble!

CIRCUS!

Last weekend my dad got us tickets to the circus! I haven't been in years and Steve has never been at all! It was great and my kids were in heaven! You can see by the pictures below that Reagan couldn't even pause to smile for me because she didn't want to miss anything and when she did look at me she scowled. I had forgotten how much fun the circus is, or maybe it is just a lot more fun with kids. Either way we had a great time!
